The Pinal County Comprehensive Plan is well underway!
Here is an update on what’s new!

Comprehensive Plan on the Road:
What We’ve Heard From You

The Pinal County Comprehensive Plan started with a bang earlier this summer with nine Road Shows in July and subsequently in August, seven Visioning Workshops.
Over 600 people participated in these events, contributing their thoughts on what they value and what they wish for Pinal’s future.

The Road Show events were an opportunity to introduce the Comprehensive Plan process to residents and the first time for residents to provide input into the process.

Participants were asked what they valued most in Pinal County, what they didn’t want to lose as growth and change occurs, and other questions related to what residents want to see in Pinal’s future.

The results of the Road Shows led to the development of draft vision themes.

In August, these draft vision themes were introduced to participants at the Visioning Workshops.
During small group discussions, visioning workshop participants were asked to reflect on these themes, address if there were important themes missing, and what they would like to see in Pinal County in 50 or more years if these themes were perfectly implemented.
The product from these events led to the development of a draft vision for Pinal County.

See our story on Meetings in a Box to see how you can help contribute to the draft vision.
The executive summaries and full reports for both the Road Shows and Visioning Workshops including the draft Vision Themes, can be found in our Library at www.PinalCountyPlan.com

School is in session: Help Us Plan!

A priority of the Pinal County Comprehensive Plan is involvement from Pinal’s youth.

This Fall, we hope to hear from Pinal’s next generation by having planning activities in our classrooms.
If you are a teacher, or you know a teacher, who is interested in hosting a Comprehensive Plan activity in class, please contact us for more information on curriculum and other activities.

Meeting in a Box: Help Review The Vision
Can’t always make a project event?

Too busy to attend a public meeting?

Join the discussion on your own time by hosting your own meeting.

We’re kicking off our Meetings in a Box element with our first topic: Pinal Draft Vision.
Gather your bridge club, youth group or family and sit down with a ready-made kit, complete with a discussion guide and feedback forms.

Contact us if you’re interested in hosting your own meeting, on your own time and in the comfort of your own setting. All input provided from these meetings will be included in the project.

Facebook: Join the Conversation

The Comprehensive Plan has gone virtual with the creation of a Facebook project webpage.

Facebook, a popular social networking website, allows users to join groups in which they can discuss issues, post ideas or photos, and converse virtually.

Popular with younger Pinal residents, Facebook offers an opportunity to have dialogue on the future of Pinal virtually.

Using Facebook is just another way to contribute to this ongoing project, as well as another effort to engage our youth; all of the content collected from Facebook activities will be included in the development of the Plan. Join the Pinal County Comprehensive Plan group on Facebook (www.Facebook.com) today!

What's Next: Design Workshops

Early October, Design Charrettes (or Workshops) will be hosted throughout Pinal County.

These six Workshops will allow participants to become “planners for a day”, giving folks an opportunity to color maps and designate land use throughout the County.

Participants will provide their input regarding development by responding to a Community Characteristics Survey. Then, in small groups, participants will interact with a facilitator and designer or planner and create a future land use and transportation plan built around the Vision developed. Design Charrettes are scheduled for:
